RE: Digester Tank Restoration Project

As community is the heartbeat of Kulshan, we wanted to express our sincere thank you to everyone who showed up to support the opening of our Trackside Beer Garden. We care deeply for our Bellingham community, and that is why we want to be transparent in directly addressing an issue that came up this weekend.

The Port of Bellingham has an on-going clean up project to remove the paint on the digester tanks that tower above Trackside, and it was brought to our attention that some of these paint chips were found in the beer garden. Despite the controls put into place by the contractors on the project, the paint chips were not contained properly. A Regulated Materials Management Specialist and Industrial Hygienist came to evaluate the severity of the situation. They informed us there is no reason to believe that any short term visit to the beer garden posed a health risk to the public. However, out of an abundance of caution, the Port of Bellingham will be replacing the grass and gravel inside Trackside. The work is already underway, and will be remedied by this weekend. We appreciate everyone who came forward sharing the concerns from opening weekend. Rest assured, the safety of our customers and staff is our first priority here and we are thankful this situation is being addressed quickly by the POB. Trackside has been cleared by the specialist to be open this weekend. However, with the new sod installed, the grass area will be closed off for the next few weeks. Our operating plan is to be open Thursday through Saturday, from 11am until 11pm, and Sunday from 11am - 10pm. We will keep you updated if anything changes in our plan.
